SBCAG and Caltrans are working with partner agencies on local projects related to the Highway 101 widening. Projects include the Rincon Multi-Use Trail, Santa Claus Lane Streetscape and Bikeway, Olive Mill Intersection, San Ysidro Intersection, the Cabrillo Underpass, and multiple coastal access improvement projects.
The City of Carpinteria and the County are working with Caltrans and SBCAG on a Class I bikeway that will provide a connection from Santa Claus Lane to Carpinteria Avenue. This will connect a gap in the California Coastal Trail between Sandpoint Drive and Carpinteria Avenue. This will enable bicyclists to travel between Santa Claus Lane and Carpinteria.
The City of Carpinteria and Caltrans are working on improving the intersection at Santa Monica Road and Via Real to improve traffic flow along with bicycle and pedestrian circulation.
The County of Santa Barbara is working to improve coastal access along North Padaro Lane by completing the sidewalk to the beach, adding California Coastal Trail and beach access signage. The County is also seeking funding to enhance public restrooms at Loon Point.
The County of Santa Barbara is working on pedestrian, bike, and coastal improvements along Santa Claus Lane. These include providing a legal crossing over the railroad tracks to the beach and enhanced parking for coastal access. The County is also seeking funding to create permanent bathrooms.
The County of Santa Barbara is working on a variety of coastal access improvements in Summerland. On Via Real, a multipurpose path will close a gap in the California Coastal Trail. At Lookout Park and Finney Road, new benches and tables will be installed. The County is seeking funding to enhance public restrooms and barbecue areas at Lookout Park. At Wallace Road, coastal parking and pedestrian access to the beach will be enhanced.
The City of Santa Barbara is leading work on the Cabrillo Interchange project that will improve bicycle and pedestrian connectivity along Cabrillo Boulevard from Highway 101 to Los Patos Way. It will serve as a key link in the Coast Route Bike Path and improve the walking connection between Santa Barbara and Montecito.
The Olive Mill Intersection Improvements, a City and County of Santa Barbara project, aim to improve traffic flow at the five point intersection of Olive Mill Road, Coast Village Road, North Jameson Lane, and the Highway 101 northbound off-ramp and southbound on-ramp.
The County of Santa Barbara's San Ysidro Intersection Improvements aim to improve traffic flow at two intersections: San Ysidro Road, the Highway 101 northbound ramps, and North Jameson Lane as well as San Ysidro Road and the Highway 101 southbound off-ramp.
